CUPPING

What is Cupping Therapy?

Cupping therapy is a traditional healing method that has been used for thousands of years in various cultures, including Chinese, Middle Eastern, and Eastern European medicine. It involves placing special cups on the skin to create gentle suction. This suction is believed to help improve blood flow, loosen tight muscles, and support the body’s natural healing process.

How Does It Work?

  • The therapist places cups made of glass, silicone, or plastic on specific areas of the body.

  • Air inside the cup is either heated or pumped out to create a vacuum.

  • This gentle suction lifts the skin slightly, which can encourage circulation, draw out toxins, and release muscle tension.

What Does It Feel Like?

During cupping, you might feel a pulling sensation where the cups are placed. It’s generally not painful, but it can leave circular marks or mild bruises that fade within a few days—these are a normal part of the process and show where blood flow has been stimulated.

Why Do People Try It?

Many people use cupping therapy to help with:

  • Muscle soreness or stiffness

  • Back and neck pain

  • Headaches

  • Fatigue

  • General relaxation and stress relief

Is It Safe?

When performed by a trained professional, cupping therapy is generally safe. However, it might not be suitable for everyone—such as people with certain skin conditions, bleeding disorders, or who are pregnant. Always consult your healthcare provider if you’re unsure.
